50 Shades of White:
A Juried Group Photography Show
Reception: Saturday, February 4 from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
In the muted days of winter The Art Gallery at the Quogue Library will celebrate the beauty of white in all its vast permutations, shades, hues and tonal values. The group show, “50 Shades of White”, will exhibit work by 23 East End photographers.
We are pleased to have Neil Watson, the Director of the Long Island Museum, as a judge for this show. Mr. Watson was formerly Director of the Katonah Museum of Art in Westchester where he launched award-winning educational initiatives and exhibits. Prior to Katonah, he served as executive director of the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts in Wilmington, Del., and held curatorial positions at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Wash., the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach and the Tampa Museum of Art in Florida.
Photography will be judged on technical excellence, artistic merit, expression of theme and overall impact. Awards will be given for First Place and Honorable Mention and results will be announced at the reception on February 4. The winner will be offered a solo exhibit at the Library gallery.
Quogue Library Art Committee members Graham Russell and Christy Murray are the chairs of this exhibition, which will be on view from February 1 to 26.
