Suffolk Theater is pleased to announce its most ambitious summer yet with legends including Three Dog Night, Don McLean, Lovin’ Spoonful, The Drifters w/ The Marvelettes, The Belmonts w/ The Capris, Judy Collins, Peter  Yarrow (of Peter, Paul & Mary) with Melanie, an unauthorized Silence of the Lambs Musical Parody,  Big Brother & The Holding Company (Janis Joplin’s Original Band), Lords of 52nd (Billy Joel’s Original Band), Smithereens, The Stray Cat Lee Rocker, Darlene Love,  Rob Base, Trammps, Micky Dolenz (Voice of the Monkees), Rickie Lee Jones, Temptations Revue, Cruising Steady- Aretha and Smokey Revue, Boomer Comedy, LI Comedy,  Sinatra Big Band –  literally some of the best tributes in the nation, honoring Queen, The Eagles, Springsteen, Zac Brown Band, The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, The Bee Gees, Neil Diamond; dancing with THAT 70s Band… and more to be announced…

Tickets will start at $15!!

June 2           Micky Dolenz  – The Voice of the Monkees
Last Train to Clarksville, Pleasant Valley Sunday, I’m A Believer – HEY HEY – it’s the legendary voice of the Monkees – Mr. Micky Dolenz!  With enduring hits beloved the world over, the Monkees sold over 60 million records in the mid-sixties with seven albums SIMULTANEOUSLY on the Billboard top 200 chart!  The ONLY recording act to have four #1 albums in a 12 month period.  Truly one of the great bands of all time – and one of the great vocalists of all time! Welcome back to Mr. Micky Dolenz!

July 7:             The Lovin’ Spoonful
What a Day for a Daydeam… Long Island natives and Suffolk Theater favorites — legends of classic rock – The Lovin’ Spoonful – return home to the East End for one special night!  Known as the “house band” of the East End in the sixties, the band went on to international acclaim with hits such as Do You Believe in Magic, Summer in the City, Daydream, Nashville Cats- and many others.   Over a period of two years in the mid-Sixties, the New York-based group charted a string of ten Top Forty hits, seven of which placed inside the Top Ten at a time when the competition included Motown, the Beatles and countless British Invasion bands.  A Suffolk Theater tradition – and East End favorites, The lovin’ Spoonful.

July 28:           The Lords of 52nd Street
Billy Joel’s Original Band

Billy Joel’s original band – the band that recorded and toured Billy Joel’s classic albums The Stranger, 52ndStreet, Turnstiles, and many others is back to the Suffolk Theater for a summer infusion of Billy Joel music – the way they were originally recorded, by the band that originally recorded them!  These are the guys you saw in the stadiums in the 70s and 80s – together.  Some of the finest musicians to ever grace our stage performing hits from Only The Good Die Young and Scenes from An Italian Restaurant to Its Still Rock & Roll to Me.  Liberty Devitto, Richie Cannatta, Russell Javors- with the great David Clark on piano and vocals – THE LORDS OF 52nd STREET. Arguably- the most authentic renditions of Billy Joel songs you can hear today!

August 12:      Big Brother & The Holding Company
Janis Joplin’s Original Band

Grammy Hall of Fame Legends and Janis Joplin’s original band makes a rare Long Island appearance with original members and the sound that created the Haight-Ashbury scene!  Another Piece of My Heart, Bobby McGee, Ball & Chain, and so many others.  Featuring original members Peter Albin & Dave Getz – along with some of the Bay Area’s finest, the group performs the hits that made the Summer of Love everything it ever was!

August 18:      Three Dog Night
JEREMIAH WAS A BULLFROG…!  With hits including Mama Told Me (Not To Come), Joy to the World, Black and White, Shambala,  One,  and others- no group from 1969 through 1974, achieved more top 10 hits or moved more records than Three Dog Night!  21 consecutive top 40 hits, including 3 #1 singles, 11 top 10s and more.  The Suffolk Theater is honored to bring this legendary group to the East End!

May 21:          Judy Collins
Beyond a doubt – one of the great voices of any generation, Ms. Judy Collins returns to the Historic Suffolk Theater!  Multi-platinum Grammy Award Winning legend Collins is known for her renditions of Stephen Sondheim, Joni Mitchell, and classic hits including: Send in the Clowns, Both Sides Now, Amazing Grace- and numerous others.  Collins rendition of Amazing Grace was selected recently by Library of Congress for the National Recording Registry in the class of 2017 as being “culturally, historically, or artistically significant”  and worthy of preservation.

July 22:           Don McLean
Bye Bye Ms. American Pie – its DON MCLEAN – America’s legendary singer-songwriter known for hits including American Pie, Vincent (Starry Starry Night), Castles in the Air, And I Love You So, Crying – and many more.  The Suffolk Theater is honored to have one of music great all-time legends performing LIVE on our stage.

August 5:        An Intimate Evening w/ Rickie Lee Jones

CHUCK E’S IN LOVE, SATELLITES, FLYING HORSES… With two Grammys and a number of Billboard Top Ten hits – Rickie Lee Jones is musical royalty.  Known for hits such as Chuck E’s in Love, and Making Whoopee,  Rickie’s collaborations with Walter Brecker of Steely Dan are also found throughout tv and film.  We welcome back one of the greatest women of music ever. Suffolk Theater is honored to host Rickie Lee’s return to the East End with this intimate solo acoustic appearance. Out of respect for the artist, NO FOOD will be served at this show and cocktail service will be suspended throughout the performance.

August 6:        FOLK LEGENDS: Peter Yarrow (of Peter Paul and Mary), Melanie, and Friends
Two of folk music’s most esteemed and legendary names join together for one magic night on the East End with special guests! Peter, Paul & Mary’s own Peter Yarrow made music history, helping create the folk revival of the 1960s with hits such as Puff The Magic Dragon and If I Had a Hammer, among many many others.  Shortly thereafter – folk-rock legend Melanie picked up the folk music mantle in the late 60s and 70s – opening Woodstock with Candles in the Rain, and ultimately scoring her biggest hit with The Bicycle Song (I Rode My Bicycle Past Your Window Last Night) – and providing the world with other hits including Look What They’ve Done to My Song, Ma, Ruby Tuesdayand more.  They’ll be joined by Long Island’s own Patricia Shih and other guests!

June 3:            The Temptations Revue Featuring Nate Evans
My Girl, Ain’t Too Proud to Beg, Papa Was a Rolling Stone, Just My Imagination, and so many other classic hits.  The Temptations Revue is led by by Nate Evans, hand-picked by original Temptations lead singers Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin, and Dennis Edwards to join the group and continue the legacy as well as a Vocal Music Hall of Fame Legend (inducted with The Impressions).  A must for any fan of classic R&B and soul…

July 14:           Cruising Steady: The Music & Friendship of Aretha Franklin & Smokey Robinson 
Featuring Broadway veterans Patrice Covington and Jesse Nager – both of whom appeared in Motown the Musical – as well as other Broadway hits including Xanadu, Color Purple, and Fame, this extraordinary musical revue showcases the music and friendship of two long-time friends from Detroit – who happened to also be two of the greatest recording artists of all time.  Your favorite Smokey & Aretha songs includingRespect, I Second That Emotion, Tears of a Clown, Natural Woman, Think, Tracks of My Tears,  – and all hits in between.

August 25:      Darlene Love
One of Rolling Stone’s Top 100 Voices of All Time

One of Rolling Stone’s “Top 100 Voices of All Time,” often cited as one of the greatest shows ever seen at The Suffolk Theater, the legendary Ms. Darlene Love returns!  He’s a Rebel, (Today I Met) the Boy I’m Gonna Marry, He’s Sure the Boy I Love and Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – and more –  all of which she sang for the legendary producer Phil Spector during the glory days of the girl-group era, as well as countless songs she sang backup on for artists like Sam Cooke, Elvis Presley, Dionne Warwick, Cher and Aretha Franklin.  Beyond a doubt- a Suffolk Theater favorite and a living legend.   An astounding talent, hers was the voice that helped launch a hundred hits!

June 30:          The Drifters featuring Rick Sheppard & The Marvelettes Revue featuring Rhonda Franklin
The Kings and Queens of 50s doo-wop and soul join together for one night only.  The Drifters – known for generation defining hits such as Under the Boardwalk, This Magic Moment, and Save the Last Dance for Me are joined by The Marvellettes Revue, performing classics such as Please Mr. Postman, Beechwood 4-5789, and Don’t Mess with Bill. Rick Sheppard joined the Drifters in 1966 and has been touring and recording their songs ever since.  A classic night of legendary songs- ONLY at the Historic Suffolk Theater.

July 15:           The Belmonts & The Capris – NY Street Corner Doo Wop
The sweet doo-wop sounds of the New York City street corners are in full swing as The Belmonts – from the Bronx, NY – known for hits with and without Dion, including I Wonder Why, Runaround Sue, Teenager in Love, and more are joined by their friends from Queens, NY – The Capris, known for hits including There’s a Moon Out Tonight and Where I Fell in Love.  A Doo Wop spectacular featuring some Suffolk Theater favorites and New York legends.

June 16 & 17SILENCE! The Musical: A Hillarious “Unauthorized” Parody Based on the Academy Award Winning Film “The Silence of the Lambs”
Declared one of the Top 10 plays of the Year by both Time Out Magazine and The New York Daily News, as well as “as irreverent, filthy, and funny as The Book of Mormon,” by The NY Post and “subversively funny” by The New York Times, Silence is an undeniably hysterical and extremely raunchy musical take on the Academy Award winning film Silence of the Lambs.  With all your favorite characters including Clarice, Hannibal, and Buffalo Bill, as well as songs including Put the F*@#$I#@ing Lotion in the Basket and Are You About a Size 14? – Silence will have you laughing at just about the most inappropriate moments.  Strictly 18+ .

August 17:      Long Island Comedy Festival

The 12th annual Long Island Comedy Festival returns to The Suffolk Theater Thursday August 17th for another night of non-stop laughter and hilarious fun!  One of the highlights of our summer offerings, the shows always feature different line-ups of great comedians from around the country, from the NYC comedy scene as well as surprise comedians too!  A fun night!

June 24:         The Smithereens
                      The seminal modern rock band that ushered in the 80s and 90s rock revival with songs such as A Girl Like You, Blood & Roses, Only a Memory, and many others.  Kings of power rock – noted for their hook-based approach to classic rock. Beyond their original 
                       music, the band is also notable for full albums dedicated to fresh and modern approaches to bands such as The Who and The Beatles!  One of the great rock groups of modern times!

July 8:             The Stray Cat Lee Rocker 
Rockabilly fans – get ready- because “we’re gonna rock this town… rock it inside out”.  In the 1980s, The Stray Cats brought the nation a new rockabilly craze with hits including Rock this Town, Sexy & Seventeen, Stray Cat Strut- and many others.  This revival was led by three young men from Masapequa, NY – Brian Setzer, Slim Jim Phantom, and bassist LEE ROCKER.  Rocker performs this summer LIVE at the Historic Suffolk Theater with a revue of the hits that made the Stray Cats a household name and produced some of the greatest rock & roll songs of all time. Performed to perfection!

May 27:          That 70s Band: Summer Kick Off
Do a Little Dance… well, you know the rest.  Kick off the summer with some dancing and old school FUNK… its Long Island’s #1 Party Band – that 70s Band, helping you get in the groove with the best of The Commodores, KC & The Sunshine Band, Earth Wind & Fire, and more.  It’s a disco explosion to kick off your summer – right here at the Historic Suffolk Theater.

Burn Baby Burn… Disco Inferno!  The dance floor is open for one of the great Disco Bands of All-Time… the Trammps!  Known for their hit Disco Inferno from Saturday Night Fever, the group had 70s disco hits including Zing Went the Strings of My Heart and Love Epidemic.  A classic disco group – with a pre-show disco set from the East End’s own DJ Phil.

August 24:      Rob Base 
(Special $15 Alive on 25 Show)
Platinum-selling hip hop legend Rob Base joins our cast of legends this summer, performing It Takes Two (to Make Things go Right), Joy & Pain, Get on the Dance Floor, and others remain hip-hop and club anthems to this day. He’s Rob Base – and he’s internationally known.  One of the greats with a special pre-show DJ Set from the East End’s own DJ Phil! Out of respect for the Alive on 25 Festival – no food will be sold for these Alive on 25 shows.  Get out on the dance floor!

June 23:          Sinatra Summer Swing w/ The 19-Piece New Millennium Big Band
The dance floor is open, as the 19-piece New Millennium Big Band orchestra performs the music of Ol’ Blue Eyes to perfection, with a special selection of summer songs for swingin’ lovers.  Join us as the elegant Suffolk Theater art-deco dance floor is opened and transports you to an elegant era of big band, wine, and song.  Its your night to dance – bring a partner or find one on the dance floor!

May 26:          The Fast Lane: NY’s Premiere Eagles Tribute
The Fast Lane has been heralded by the International Press Association. “If you didn’t know better, you’d swear you were really at an Eagles concert!” The Fast Lane has gained the reputation of being the truest sounding Eagles Tribute Band in the world. Their renditions of Eagles’ classics have been recognized by professionals in the industry, including Jack Tempchin, (composer of “Peaceful Easy Feeling” and co-composer of “Already Gone”).  The band has received praises throughout North America and Europe. Performing flawless reproductions of songs by Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and Joe Walsh, the experience of hearing the band in concert is matched only by seeing it!

July 1:             Zac Brown Tribute Band (ZBTB)
You know we like our chicken-fried…. Kick off your July 4th weekend with a little bit of modern country, performed by the nation’s premier Zac Brown Tribute group ZBTB! Modern country anthems such as Chicken Fried, Toes, The Wind, Sweet Annie, and so many others.  A consummate tribute to the reigning kings of country – and the dance floor is open!

July 27:           Half Step (Playing the Music of The Grateful Dead)

Half Step is a group of dedicated fans & students of the Grateful Dead, capturing the spirit, improvisation, sound & complexity of Grateful Dead music.  Established in 2004 on Long Island, Half Step has been mastering their craft while winning over crowds of Veteran Deadheads, newcomers, and non-Dead fans alike!

August 10:       Long Live the Beatles (starring The Mahoney Brothers)

“If I didn’t know any better, I would swear it was The Beatles.” – Bob Eubanks, Beatles Promoter Hollywood Bowl ;  Featuring the Mahoney Brothers, cast to portray the Beatles in Broadway’s legendary “Beatlemania,” we can assure you – really… no lie… these guys sound like the fab four and will convince you that you’ve relived the Beatles like none other. A retrospective of the band that changed music forever… and at only $15! ENJOY! It’s July 4th weekend and its time to get patriotic with the songs of the legendary Neil Diamond including his most patriotic hit  Coming to America (TODAY)!  Neil Diamond tribute group Tommy Lynn & Diamond One Hot Night  Known for their flawless recreation of classic Neil Diamond songs, One Hot Night features musicians that have played and collaborated with Gloria Estefan, Jon Secada, Michael Jackson, Enrique and Julio Iglesias, Bruce Springsteen, Tommy James, and Gary U.S. Bonds to name a few.

August 4:        Almost Queen
Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, Under Pressure, We Will Rock You, and SO MANY MORE!  THE most authentic QUEEN live show since the days of QUEEN themselves returns to the Historic Suffolk Theater! Sept 2:             The B Street Band  (The Original Springsteen Tribute Band)
Tramps like us… baby, we were born to see.. THE B STREET BAND. Straight from the Jersey Shore- widely recognized as the #1 Springsteen tribute show in the nation! How do we know? Founded in 1933 as a Long Island answer to the great New York City art deco theaters such as Radio City Music Hall, the historic Suffolk Theater in Riverhead was restored and re-opened in 2013 by Bob and Dianne Castaldi. The Suffolk Theater presents a full calendar of music, comedy, and theatrical arts for audiences of all backgrounds.
