National Artists Capture

Photography’s Essence

In The Elemental Light Exhibit

Asile de Saint Paul by Robert Dutruch

Juried by Lisa Chalif, Curator of The Heckscher Museum of Art, photographic works by twenty-nine national artists have been selected for the Elemental Light Juried Exhibition at Alex Ferrone Gallery on the North Fork.  The exhibit opens with a free public reception and awards presentation on Saturday, July 8 from 6-8pm where guests can enjoy a toast of bubbly and hors d’oeuvres with the artists. Elemental Light Exhibit runs through July 30, 2017.
Photography’s very essence is light and photographers have long sought the perfect illumination for their images.  Works selected for the exhibit demonstrate this essence – capturing the play of dust-speckled beams, exploring the graphics of shadows, interpreting moods of the Golden Hour, and translating colors of artificial light.  Juror, Lisa Chalif writes, “The photographers whose works were selected present an expansive view of the theme from beautiful documentary images to experimental photographs, all exploring the very nature of light itself.”  Director, Alex Ferrone states, “We are very pleased to be guided by Ms. Chalif’s expert curating eye for this special exhibition.”
Aside from being chosen for the exhibition at the Gallery, Juror’s Awards include an artist’s advertising package from Hamptons Online (Hamptons.com), as well as photographic equipment, fine art printing services, and framing prizes from Berger Bros. Camera, Eston Photo, and Abbot Art & Framing of Long Island.
