Welcome to the Hampton Theatre Company’s 32nd season. In addition to announcing another series of thrilling live theater productions, we have some exciting news for theatergoers in the months ahead.
First, in response to increased demand, we are adding Saturday matinees to our performance schedule. And, to make our shows accessible to the widest possible audience, we are now offering discount tickets at $15 apiece for those under 35.
Now, on to the season:
Doors open on October 20 — less than three weeks before Election Day — with David Mamet’s Oval Office satire, November, a laugh-out-loud, no-holds-barred look at one day in the life of an egomaniacal and beleaguered American commander-in-chief seeking reelection.
In January, we travel to Greenwich Village with Amy Herzog’s 4000 Miles. This poignant Pulitzer Prize finalist depicts the unlikely relationship between a 91-year-old lefty and her questing grandson who unexpectedly shows up in her apartment at 3 a.m. after a life-altering cross-country bike ride.
What better than a cracking whodunnit to awaken the senses in March? Bernard Slade’s clever and masterful An Act of the Imagination fits the bill with an intricately plotted mystery that whips up duplicity and cunning mixed with deceit, promising to surprise even seasoned theater detectives.
In June, we conclude with Michael Frayn’s deliriously funny Alarms and Excursions, a collection of comedies of embarrassment, with hilarious commentary on fiendish new technology that is meant to make our lives easier while actually providing new forms of torment.
In addition to these four stimulating and engaging shows, HTC will offer a Special Holiday Event on the weekend of December 9-11. (Details will be announced by email only, so please make sure we have yours!)
We hope you will subscribe now and join us for all these wonderful shows. And, it is not too late to“Be an Angel” by supplementing your subscription with a generous donation. We are, as ever, immensely grateful for your ongoing support.
