The Great Peconic Race (GPR) has become one of the most popular races on the east coast for elite, advanced and intermediate paddlers from the Hamptons and throughout the US. Our feature event, a 19-mile paddle circumnavigating Shelter Island, attracts athletes who enjoy the challenge and adventure of this open water race and compete hard for the opportunity to win this prestigious event. The additional 9-mile and 3-mile GPR races provide Paddle enthusiasts of all levels exhilarating and fun races to enjoy along with their friends and family.

A feature of our Race is our Beach Party at Havens Beach, Shelter Island. From here the race is launched and racers return to this spot to cross the nish line. The party lasts for the best part of the day and includes food, live music and fun activities for water sports enthusiasts, environmental enthusiasts as well as children & families.
