Mashomack Book-in-the-Woods – September

Finding Wild by Megan Wagner Lloyd

Where can you find the wild? It can be in the city, or out in the country. Come explore and find out what wild is.


Beach Clean Up Day

Saturday, September 15, 9-11 AM

You can make a difference! Join in the annual international coastal cleanup effort which clears and categorizes the various marine debris found on our beaches. All ages welcome. Community service hours available.


Welcome to Autumn

Saturday, September 22, 6-7 PM

Come to the shores of Bass Creek to watch the nearly full moon rise and the sun set. We will say goodbye to summer with a fire, drumming and a simple equinox ceremony.


Mashomack Point Paddle

Saturday, September 29, 9-noon

Mashomack Point has a beautiful winding salt marsh, which is a joy to explore by self-powered boats. We will use both canoes and kayaks to investigate this waterway of the Katherine Ordway Wildlife Refuge.

$45/boat includes all necessary equipment.

Possum wants to celebrate the full harvest moon, but his friends are all busy preparing for winter. Will anyone come to his party?


Feed the Birds!

Saturday, October 6, 9:30-10:30 AM

Would you like to know how to attract and identify birds in your backyard? Learn the best bird feeding techniques and identifying tips while watching live birds at Mashomack’s lively bird window.


Fall Foliage Truck Tour

Saturday, October 20, 10-11:30 AM

With shortening days, the red maples and tupelos turn hues of red, while sassafras don shades of yellow.

Come for a truck tour of Mashomack’s fields, forests and along the edges of our ponds and marshes

to see what colors nature has to offer.


Family Fun: Nature’s Halloween Trail

Saturday, October 27, 5-6:30 PM

Who will be in the woods this year? Mashomack’s band of costumed characters changes every year.

Arrive anytime 5-6:30 PM, allowing about 30minutes to complete the trail. All ages welcome.

Children should be accompanied by an adult. Bring a flashlight. Light refreshments following walk.
